Shaker, But Not Shaker

Mission Viejo

This client loves white interiors and Shaker but needed the kitchen to feel like a genuine addition. He wanted the kitchen to look and feel a natural part of the home’s warmth and traditional design elements.

Instead of the classic shaker door style typically seen, we designed a unique, white cabinet door with a traditional inside bead where the door’s frame meets the center panel to soften the Shaker look.

We began the design process by cleaning up the basic ergonomics of the kitchen.

The appliances were cramped together without regard for counter space and overall smoothness of functionality. By doing a separate drop-in cooktop and single oven below, the countertop now continues seamlessly throughout the kitchen to give a more integrated appliance look while providing additional counter space left and right of the cooking area.

We also managed to introduce a beverage/wine fridge on the backside of the peninsula for entertaining without having to take up room in the main kitchen workspace.

Lastly, more cabinets in the dining room offered additional storage and a buffet area to compliment the kitchen.
